This painting, titled "Time," encapsulates an exploration of the temporal dimension interwoven with themes of survival, organic growth, limitation, and evolution.
I associate Time with the Root chakra, symbolized by the choice of the color red.
The focal point of the artwork is the present moment, as the past is a fragmented truth inherent to memories, and the future is nonexistent.
The symbolism of sand in the painting serves a dual purpose: it signifies the inevitable return to dust, representing the transient nature of all things, while also expressing the infinite and varied perceptions of time. The creation of this piece arises from my own dread —my perceived powerlessness. This painting became a tool to reclaim a semblance of control, even if only in the abstract realm. Despite our evident inability to halt time itself, intentional perception and the act of projection grant a degree of influence.
The act of projection is intricately woven into the fabric of the Present, serving as a frame for both Past and Future. By choosing and redefining memories, we can master moments otherwise out of our grasp. Memory, essential for defining identity and acknowledging the passage of time, transforms "we" and Time from concepts into lived experiences.
Along with anchoring oneself in the present, liberated from the past and future, emerges as a powerful means to transcend our limitations.
